Hike @ Big Creek

Today's Yoh! hike was a re-do of our very first Yoh! Hike at Big Creek way back on 10/22/11.  Can't believe Yoh! has been around for a dozen years now.  This time it was Pam, Teresa, Michele, Miranda and I along with 3 rambunctious dogs.  We ended up hiking it counterclockwise, which is a bit longer, but has a few flat areas whereas from the other direction it's one straight uphill climb.  The weather held out for us, and we only had a few minutes of sprinkles; I didn't even need my raincoat. In all we completed 4.88 miles with 1,057 feet of elevation gain in 2 hours and 42 minutes, including the times we stopped to catch our breath & enjoy the many bridges along the trail.  We sighted both a bridge troll and a tiny mouse along with some early flowering Evergreen violets, salmonberry, trillium and skunk cabbage. The trail was in good shape with only a little bit of mud in parts and no snow.  After we finished, we stopped in Hoodsport for some celebratory ice cream.

Teresa's T-shirt says it all!

Michele was today's designated model.

Hike @ Key Forest

This morning Scott, Teresa and I along with 5 unruly dogs hiked at Key Central Forest.  It was cold but blessedly dry.  The trail had a lot ...
